FAQS

  • The ratio allowed by the state of California is 6:1 for under 2 years and 12:1 over 2 years. However, our school typically operates at 4 or 5:1 for under 2 years, and closer to 7 or 8:1 for over 2 years.

  • Our school is surrounded by security fencing, as well as multiple Ring video cameras around the perimeter of the campus.  We have a facilities manager who also acts as our security personnel.  Coastline has a close working relationship with the Ventura Police Department, specifically with their K9 unit and SWAT team.
Our school facilitates regular evacuation & lockdown drills so that staff & students know how to respond in the event of an emergency. Our emergency reach-out text system will send out a mass text to all parents stating the nature of the emergency and how to respond.

  • We use a lot of redirection for discipline/behavioral challenges. Teachers talk with children and encourage “desirable” behavior. If negative behavior is ongoing or extreme, the child may be separated from the group for a period of time or sent home.  We like to involve the parents in coming up with strategies, tools, and options that can help to make the child’s experience with school a successful and positive one.

  • Our Toilet Training Policy includes the following:

Children enrolled in our Koalas (ages 3-4) and our Monkeys (ages 4-5) classrooms must be toilet trained in order to attend preschool. Toilet trained children must wear underwear. A child having accidents daily would not be considered toilet trained. Please note that wearing pull ups is not considered toilet trained.

“Potty trained”, as per our definition, includes being able to communicate the need to use the restroom and to perform self care tasks such as dressing/undressing, wiping, flushing, and hand-washing.  (For the complete Toilet Training Policy, please refer to the Admission Agreement & Parent Handbook.)

Annual tuition for the school year is based on a 10-month school year, mid-August to mid-June.  The parents or guardians of students may elect to pay the annual tuition in ten monthly installments, from August through May, due on the 15th of each month.

Tuition is initially due and payable prior to the first day care, and prior to each month of care thereafter.  First month’s tuition is due at the time of registration for all new families and held spots. Should a child begin attending during a billing cycle, the second month of attendance will be prorated.
